The Brazos River in Richmond is currently at Gage Elevation 37.22 feet (Action Stage) and is anticipated to stay above Gage Elevation 33 through Saturday, January 19.

We continue to watch the Brazos River downstream of Hempstead fall from the minor flood event we experienced last week. This trend should continue through the week even with some additional rainfall headed our way.
We are watching for a major cold front to hit the region this weekend. We have less than a 50% chance for rain through most of the week with our greatest chances for rain on Saturday. The current precipitation forecast is showing less than 1 inch for most of the Brazos River watershed over the next 7 days.

Based on the current forecasts, the biggest issue for the next 7 days is the potential for a hard freeze that could occur Sunday and Monday. Hopefully the rain will pass quickly and things will dry out; however, we could have some icy conditions develop.
